54 km | Drive: 1 hour | Altitude: 2,334m. Your guide and driver receive you at Paro International Airport and drive to Thimphu. Short stop en route to admire Tamchog Monastery, built in the 15th century by Thang Tong Gyalpo. Afternoon: visit the tallest statue of Buddha (51.5m) at Kuensel Phodrang, Changangkha Lhakhang (12th century temple), and the Takin Preserve Centre. Evening: Sangaygang viewpoint for panoramic city views, Dupthop Lhakhang (one of Bhutan’s rare surviving nunneries), and Tashichho Dzong — the Royal Secretariat and seat of government. Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.

54 km | Drive: 1 hour | Altitude: 2,280m. Morning in Thimphu: National Postal Museum, School of 13 Arts and Crafts (Zorig Chusum painting school), craft bazaar. Free time for shopping and photography in town. Drive to Paro. Afternoon: Ta Dzong (National Museum of Bhutan) housed in a former watchtower with exhibits on Bhutanese art, armour, and cultural relics; Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong) built in 1646 — walk across the wooden bridge and admire the fortress-monastery’s intricate whitewashed walls; traditional Bhutanese farmhouse visit — interact with a local family over butter tea or ara (traditional rice wine). Evening: stroll in Paro town for shopping and photography. Dinner and overnight in Paro.

Hike distance: 7km | Total hike: 4–5 hours | Altitude gain: 900m. Morning: drive to Satsam Chorten and begin the 2-hour ascent to the legendary Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) perched on a sheer 900m cliffside at 3,120m. Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown here on the back of a tigress to meditate in the cave — the holiest site in Bhutan. Afternoon: visit Drugyel Dzong, the 17th-century fortress built in victory over Tibetan invaders; on clear days enjoy dramatic views of Mt Jomolhari (7,326m). Continue to Kyichu Lhakhang — one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, built in 659 AD by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. Evening: free time in Paro town. Dinner and overnight in Paro.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport. End of tour.
