This policy explains what personal information Wonder Bhutan collects through this website, how we use it and what choices you have. Wonder Bhutan is the travel brand of Basnet Adventures, a licensed tour operator based in the Zomlha Building, Thimphu, Bhutan. You can reach us at info@wonderbhutan.com.
What we collect when you send an enquiry
When you fill in an enquiry form we collect what you type into it: your name, your email address, your country, the trip you are interested in, your preferred dates, the size of your group, the standard of hotel you prefer and your message.
The enquiry is stored in this website’s database and emailed to our office, and you receive an automatic email confirming that we have it. We use the details to reply to you and to plan your trip. We do not use them for anything else, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
To protect the form from abuse, the site also records a scrambled version of the sender’s internet address for up to one hour. It cannot be turned back into the address and is deleted automatically.
What we collect when you book
To apply for your visa we need a copy of your passport and a passport photograph, which you send to us by email. We pass these to Bhutan’s Department of Immigration with your visa application. We give your name and travel dates to the hotels and guides involved in your trip, and to the airline if we book flights for you. We share nothing beyond what each needs.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not show advertising and does not use advertising cookies. The fonts and scripts are served from our own website, with the one exception described next.
With your agreement, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are read, where people click and how far they scroll. We ask first: a notice at the foot of the page offers Accept and Decline, and nothing of Clarity’s is loaded, and none of its cookies set, unless you accept. If you do, Clarity records how a visit unfolds and sets cookies to tell one visit from another. What you type into a form is masked and is not recorded. The information is processed by Microsoft; its privacy statement explains how. We use it only to improve the website, and we do not use it to identify you. Your choice is remembered in your browser for a year, and you can change it at any time:
Maps are the one exception. When you scroll down to a map, your browser fetches the map images from OpenStreetMap, which sees your internet address as any website does. Nothing is fetched from it on pages without a map, or until you scroll near one. The floating WhatsApp button, if shown, opens WhatsApp only when you press it. Each of those services has its own privacy policy.
How long we keep your information
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to answer you and arrange your trip.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. Write to info@wonderbhutan.com from the email address you used, and we will do so and confirm when it is done. We may need to keep records that the law requires, such as invoices.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Security
The website uses an encrypted connection. Access to stored enquiries is limited to our own staff, behind a password. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send card details or passwords through the enquiry form.
