About Zhemgang
Zhemgang lies south of Trongsa, where the central hills fall towards the Indian plain. Its people call the region Kheng, and divide it into upper, middle and lower Kheng.
The people of Kheng are known for what they make from bamboo and cane. The woven bowls called bangchung, sold all over Bhutan, come from here.
Two temples in the district, Buli Lhakhang and Tharpa Choeling Lhakhang, are attributed to Pema Lingpa. In the south, around Panbang, is Royal Manas National Park, Bhutan’s oldest protected area and a home of the golden langur.
None of our set itineraries goes to Zhemgang. If you would like to see it, tell us when you write, and we will say plainly what is possible on a tailor-made trip.
